Give No Place

BFT
like I always say is not for what sells or what news is hot. Many times, I
receive a word from God for BFT and I struggle with posting it because it may
not be popular and I wouldn’t have that many readers but again and again, God
has reminded me that when HE gives a word, it is not necessarily for everybody;
it may be for just ONE person and I ask, ‘Would You keep me up all night,
listening to You and writing for just one person?’ and He reminds me of the
parable of the lost sheep and the lost coin. The lengths He would go for you,
yes you. So, read on and be blessed. I’m humbled to be used by Him.

A
few days ago, as I lay on my bed, I watched one mosquito on the outside trying
to squeeze through the window net and get into my room. I wanted to get up and
‘shoo’ it away but I decided against that; I was so sure it couldn’t get past
the net. So, I lay back and watched as it continued trying to squeeze itself
into any of the tiny holes, and then I saw it go to the edge of the window
frame. It flew around there for a few seconds, went up and down and then,
viola! It was inside my room. I jumped up, trying to kill it but it flew past
me, whistling as it went. How did it enter? I kept wondering. So I went back to
the window to check. It was then I saw that there was a very, very, small
opening between the net and the wood frame and that was how the ‘persistent mosquito’
entered.
That
single incident got me thinking! You see, it reminded me about this Christian
race. Sometimes, we get really complacent, we sit back and relax thinking that
we’ve got it all covered. After all, we are born-again, we are in the faith and
we are ‘standing’. It is at that moment exactly when we are at ease in Zion
{Amos 6:1 – Woe unto them that are at ease in Zion…}, that the enemy comes buzzing
around us. And when we make no move to nip it {in whatever form it comes} in
the bud and shove it far away, it becomes full blown and whilst we are still
thinking we are standing, we fall flat on our face.
We must always remember that the enemy is subtle.
Jude 1:4 speaks about men who ‘crept in unawares’. That’s exactly the strategy,
‘a little sleep, a little slumber’; the devil won’t just bring fornication out
rightly, no, he knows you may not fall for that. It has to start with a little
this, a little that. So that you start asking questions like, ‘Is it a sin? Is
it not a sin? Did God say? Did God not say?’ and before you know it, Gbam! He
hits you. I Thessalonians 5:22- Abstain from all appearance of evil.
We
must also remember that if we allow the enemy have a foothold, he will make it
his stronghold. He is always seeking an entry point; even the smallest crack in
your armour can give him leeway. Any believer who is still living in sin is of no
threat to the enemy; such a person is exactly where the devil wants him to be
and that’s alright with him. On the other hand, if you are on fire, he is
interested and he wants to dim that fire by any means possible. Like that
persistent mosquito, he will persist. Remember Jesus’ encounter {Luke 4}, the
Bible says the devil ‘departed from him for a season’… Child of God, every day is
a battle. No wonder Paul says, I die daily {1 Corth. 15:21}. I die to self
daily!
Finally
my brethren, we need to put on the whole armour; not just some selected
‘pieces’.
Eph 6:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in
the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that
ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole
armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having
done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins
girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the
preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of
faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints;
I
find that word very interesting ‘wiles’… tricks, scams, deceptions. You can’t
ever afford to be off guard. And notice that there is no ‘back guard’ and
that’s because there is no turning back. You can’t put your hands on the plough
and look back {Luke 9:62}. Everything you need for the battle is right there.
One day by God’s grace, we would study the armour piece by piece.
Note
also, that this armour is not for unbelievers. The helmet which covers your
head is salvation. You can’t say you are doing battle when you are not saved. The
sword of the Spirit brings to mind Luke 4 again-Jesus met every of the devil’s
temptation with the word of God. There is power in the Word. How much of the
word do you know? Do you have inside of you? Fortify yourself with every piece
of the armour and by doing so, you keep the devil out! Give no place!!!!
God
bless y’all.

So many times last year I felt very bitter with myself. I had given the devil a strong hold by allowing a sexual relationship. Then I solidified my helmet and told God it won’t spill into this year and I was ready for whatever was coming as a result of that decision. Today I thank God that before we broke up, I had stopped it and my fear was missing heaven because of a secret sin. Indeed when the foundation is faulty, what can the righteous do? I was willing to rebuild the foundation and when I embarked on that journey, He pulled me out.

In my own case, i think i gave the devil a foot hold when i started reading some novels with explicit scenes. i told myself that i was strong enough, i wouldn't let the things i read affect me but before i knew it, masturbation came in. took me years to break free but today, iam glad i'm free. fighting with my whole armour. thank U Jesus.

This is really beautiful, Onose. God bless you for this article. The Bible encourages us to be vigilant but we tell ourselves to ignore the devil, we think he is not the problem. this is another one of his lies, we must remember that he is a deceiver. If he gets us to ignore him, he has one stronghold. I pray the Lord gives us strength to know how to deal with our adversary. Every blessing. Nkem x
